  9. Vagrarian - In a recent post Sweetfurr mentioned that Marie had been rehomed to a friend's house.

I had been missing her too. She was always a tiny cat, a "tea cup," which is, sadly, a marketing term used by disreputable breeders. The "tea cups" are actually runts of the litter, and unethical breeders will consciously choose to breed runts. It is a practice that promotes genetic defects, and sadly, as I recall, Marie did have some health problems.

I hope Sweetfurr will share more of Marie's story. They have learned the hard way why it is important to buy purebred cats from only reputable breeders, who breed from strong, healthy, proven champion stock and do genetic testing to ensure that congenital defects, such as Polycystic Kidney Disease or a genetic predisposition to FIP, will not be propagated throughout the breed.

What Sweetfurr has experienced and learned could help many lovers of the Persian, Himalayan and Exotic breeds, as well as the cats themselves. They are such sweet animals. They deserve the very best.

  10. Ah, I missed that. But I think sometime in the future these folks could share some of their experiences with adopting and give pointers and advice to those of us who are just starting the process, like how to check out breeders, what resources are available, what to look for, what questions to ask, etc. I hope to get a Persian of my own someday, but I would LOVE to hear any advice that the experienced folks here can give.

  11. Oh noes!!! She is just precious and I've fallen hopelessly in love with her. May I have her? LOL, just kidding. For reasons unknown to me, one of the nicknames I have for my cat Annabelle is Moo Moo.
